October 14, 2013                                            re: Flex Day Five

Dear Families:

There seems to be some confusion by parents on whether or not their child is to attend school on Flex Day Five Fridays. In many cases, students say that they don’t have to go to school on Fridays, because they love to have the day off. This is where the misunderstandings begin.

By the end of the day on Thursday, students know if they are to come in on Friday to receive individualized instruction or to complete assignments. Beginning this Thursday, 10/17/2013, all parents, guardians or adult care givers will either receive a text message, email or phone call from the school informing them if the student is to attend or not attend school on Friday. This is change for our previous system of only notifying the parents of students who were excused from Friday.  Please be alert for this message.

Flex Day Five was initiated to increase student achievement. The major contributing factor for student success is attendance. We know that if our students come to school every day and put forth their best effort, they will be successful and earn their diploma. This program was developed to encourage students to attend school every day, and earn Friday off by completing all their assignments with at least a 70% average.

We are sure that Flex Day Five will have a very positive and significant impact on your child’s achievement. It can only work if we have everyone’s cooperation and support.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

 he CASMAN Academy Staff
